Custom Tiles and Custom SideDrawer Types

Add your own customized Tiles to an existing SD Type, or create a custom SideDrawer Type for your clients

When creating a new SideDrawer for your clients, your built-in options are Business or Individual, and each of these Types comes with its standard Tile set

If your business needs a different Tile to be added to that standard set, you can use these tools to create it and add it!
If you need higher-level customization, you can build an entirely new SideDrawer Type, and populate it with your own Tile set!
Note that customization may involve an extra cost, depending on your subscription.

Whether you're creating a custom Tile or an entire custom SideDrawer Type, you'll be working from the SideDrawer Types & Tiles menu in your Console

In the Console, go to Settings > SideDrawer Types & Tiles:

Creating a Custom Tile

This flow will let you add your own Tile to the existing SideDrawer Types, Business or Individual.
The Tile will be added to all SideDrawers of that Type in your environment.
For example, if you add a Tile called "Meetings" to the Business SideDrawer Type, then all your users with Business SideDrawers will see the Meetings Tile in their Tile set

  • Choose the SideDrawer Type that you want to add the custom Tile to, click on the 3 dots icon on the right, and select Manage Tiles:

  • Click the button to start working with your Custom Tile:

  • Click the Affiliate line to choose an Affiliate from the drop-down
    If you have one brand for all your SideDrawers, there will only be one option to select

  • Choose an icon for your Custom Tile
    If you have an image file you want to use, you can drag & drop it into the center, or select the file from your folders
    Use the options on the right to choose an icon from the Gallery, or choose an image file already in your Asset Library

  • Give your Custom Tile a name - this name will appear below the icon in the Tiles screen

  • Click Confirm to finalize your choices and add the new Tile


    7. The Tile has now been added - you can add translations in an optional step, or select Close


    Once these steps are completed, you will see the Custom Tile in your Manage Tiles menu

    Note that this menu will only show your Custom Tiles - the default Tiles for that SideDrawer type will not appear here


    Managing Custom Tiles

    The Manage Tiles menu will show all Custom Tiles for that SideDrawer type
    From this menu, you can:

  • Change the sequence of your Tiles
    To change the sequence, click on the 3 lines icon to the left of the Tile name, and drag the Tile up or down on the list
    The sequence of Tiles in this menu indicates their position in the SideDrawers' Tiles page:

  • Choose a new Icon or image
    Click on the 3 dots icon to the right of the Tile name to bring up the Actions Menu, then select Edit Tile
    In the next screen, you can upload an image file or search the Gallery to select a new Icon for the Tile

  • Edit the Name of a Tile
    Click on the 3 dots icon to the right of the Tile name to bring up the Actions Menu, then select Rename Tile
    Type the new name for the Tile, then click Submit to confirm

  • Manage Record Types
    Record Types are additional labels on a Record, indicating what kind of files are stored there
    For example, the Record Name might be "John's VISA," with the Record Type "Credit Card"
    This menu lets you create Record Types for your Custom Tile, which will appear as suggestions in the client's drop-down list, to help guide their choices
    From the Actions Menu, select Manage Record Types, then click on Add New Record Type
    In the pop-up screen, enter the name for your new Record Type, and click Confirm

    You can also use this menu to change the names of your Custom Record Types, or rearrange them in the sequence by dragging and dropping the 3-lines icon on the left

    Note that this menu will only let you edit the Custom Tiles that you've added.
    The other Tiles in the SideDrawer Type are pre-set and can't be edited.
    If you need more customization, the best path may be to create a Custom SideDrawer Type

Creating a Custom SideDrawer

If you have client use cases that don't fit into the default Business or Individual SideDrawer Types, you can use this tool to create new types of SideDrawers, and customize them with your own Tile Set

Note that there may be an extra cost for creating Custom SideDrawer Types, depending on your subscription

  1. From the Settings > SideDrawer Types & Tiles menu, select
    Add new SideDrawer Type:

  2. In the next screen, enter the name for your Custom SideDrawer Type, then select Save & proceed to create a Tile:


    3. This will take you to the Create a Custom Tile flow, as detailed above

    Follow the steps to create each Tile for your custom SideDrawer Type, choosing a name and icon for each Tile

    As you create your Tiles, you can also use the Manage Record Types menu to pre-populate Record Types for each Tile, to help your clients label their Records

    Once you've created multiple Tiles, you can use the 3 lines icon to the left of the Tile name to drag & drop Tiles, and change their position in the sequence
    The first Tile in the sequence will be the first one shown in the Upload Files flow, so if there's a Tile you want clients to put most of their files in, you should put it in the first slot

Note that you can't manually delete a Tile once it has been created.
