What Can I Put in a SideDrawer?

Anything you want! Think of your SideDrawer as your virtual filing cabinet’s drawer. Once you go in you’ll see the tiles (categories) for items such as vehicle information, your home, investments, your will, identity documents and legal documents to name a few.

You will also find sections for everyday things such as service accounts (streaming services, cable, internet, etc), hobbies, wish lists, collectibles and much more!

For more information about content, please refer to our Terms of Service.

I Have a Document - Where Do I Put It?

You might find it difficult to upload important documents and files because you don't know where, what tile/category, they belong to. But we've made organizing your SideDrawer information super easy.

You're not restricted to the record types suggested when you open a tile and create a new record. As a matter of fact, you can create any record type anywhere, in any tile.

What if my Will is dated and my SideDrawer has new or updated assets?

Your Will is a legal document that determines how your estate is to be distributed and SideDrawer will ensure your family and trusted advisors will have access to all the information on your belongings and your final wishes.

It’s best practice to update your will periodically with your legal advisor and then upload it to your SideDrawer to replace your old Will or keep it for record keeping purposes.

My dad has many documents and I want to manage them for him. Can I create an account on his behalf?

Great question! With a premium account you can create a SideDrawer for your dad and make him the owner and, with his permission, still get access through your own SideDrawer account.

Keep in mind that, as the owner, your dad will have the ability to remove your permissions to his SideDrawer.

You can choose to pay for your dad’s SideDrawer or simply ask him to pay for it himself. Now you can fully manage his documents!

Why can't my collaborator access my documents?

There could be a couple reasons why.

First, ensure you've purchased a premium SideDrawer account. Only a premium account allows users to collaborate with others.

Your collaborator must have their own SideDrawer account as well. It can be a free account, but they'll only be allowed to view your records and they won't be able to share their records or edit yours.

Also check that your collaborator has been given permission to access your documents by opening the record and scrolling to "Collaborators & Permissions".

For more information about changing permission settings, please read the article on "Understanding and changing permission settings" here.

If you have no collaborators it's very easy to add them. Simply click "Add your first collaborator" or the + sign to add an additional collaborator to that record.

Then fill out the required information and click "Add new collaborator".

Individual or Business SideDrawer - which is right for me?

When you create a new SideDrawer you’ll be given the option to create an Individual or Business type of SideDrawer.

The difference between the two is the types of tiles (categories) are different for each and our guided organization feature will have the corresponding records and additional information fields that come from the type of SideDrawer.

For comparison, these are the tiles available for a Business SideDrawer.

And these are the tiles for an Individual SideDrawer.

Why does my SideDrawer have different branding?

SideDrawer offers a premium customized solution for clients who want the features and benefits of SideDrawer but personalized with their company branding.

As you can see in the example below, Chandra has 2 separate SideDrawers, 1 named "Chandra" and the other "ChandraSDI". The "Chandra" SideDrawer has our branding:

-the SideDrawer company logo

-our brand colour

-our font

-our tile icons

But the "ChandraSDI" SideDrawer has been sponsored by IG Wealth Management and they have tailored the experience to match their branding:

-the IG Wealth Management logo

-their brand colour

-their font

-their tile icons
